“That’s How God Works!”, Michael Card’s concert, 23 Feb

BLESSED… Singer and writer Michael Card is awesome!!!!…. I got to say “Hi” before his concert… I gave him my two journaling writings about his last concert… I was SO excited to see him, the ride of the day!!! I went with such great faith family!! SO BLESSED!!!

I actually gave him two months total of my writing, and the link to the others… I said he didn’t have to read them, but maybe for the plane or the bus, he said he would show his wife to show her that he was still popular, LOL… He eagerly fanned thru the pages… Who knows, maybe he will read, maybe not, I just wanted to share them to again say how much I appreciated his gifts and his giving… And at the end to give him a hug like a old friend, to say thanks and “God bless you”!

The concert was amazing! Laid back, just him and a Steinway and a Martin guitar, which he re-tuned constantly… If he missed a note he blamed it on age.. He did look a little skinnier than last time, I do worry about him and his jet-hopping schedule. We sang all together as he taught the audience a few times. I only recognized a couple songs, and his newest songs were wonderful… He spoke of his writing and fascination of the differences in the 4 gospels – Luke was a doctor like his dad, an old-fashioned doctor who worked constantly and they only saw him at dinner… As the youngest, Michael would have to go retrieve his dad from his study for dinner, and he would wiggle his fingers under the door… which his therapist told him he was still doing – wiggling his fingers for attention… Everyone gushed with love and compassion for him… He said God takes our brokenness to use us for His will… The more broken we are the more he calls us… He also spoke of his book about slavery, how much writing in the bible was about how we are slaves of God, not servants but slaves… How even Mary said “behold I am a slave to the Master” when she was told by the angels that she was chosen.

Many wonderful stories, wonderful atmosphere, praises in song.

But what was a classic God-intervention of the whole evening was HIS obvious timing of when I got there, where I sat and with whom….positioning is everything with God… It’s when you realize God’s been working His HOLY SPIRIT assets-off to move HIS children around so that they run into each other and inspire each other… So when I entered the beautiful small 300-seat chapel, I zoomed right up front because I saw Michael Card sitting with someone in the front row. We arrived about thirty minutes before concert… We needed four seats, PERFECT spot front row (with room for my friend’s wheelchair)… And I zoomed into the seat next to Michael to say “Hey-remember me?”… He probably didn’t but after Michael and I shared for five minutes, and I handed him my writing. He got up to finish mingling and these two ladies sat down… The one next to me turned and said they saw him in center city two months ago at the tiny 200-person concert, and I said “me too!”… And she recognized me, (yeah really!) and she could tell I had lost weight (!!crazy!!)… I said I was supposed to give a ride to a new friend I had met at that concert – but he got another ride… well they go to church with him!!!… Actually they got the concert info from him because I had sent the info to him!!!… Yeah crazy!.. wow – they thanked me… She said “That’s how God works!” …

Yup! That’s how God works!!!!

Our conversation SO natural, our PRAISE in our singing and our nodding along with the music… After we exchanged contact info, I told her my story and she said she used to be a writer and God has been nudging her to write again, write her story, and she resists and doesn’t take the time… I said God forced me to write, I did not choose to write! except if I didn’t dunp it down, God would NOT release my brain… God made my writing convenient at quiet times, woke me up for the processing, now I write for both processing and praise, and to convince others that God is alive!!!!!

She said she is going to get herself writing, I hope she does… She said her story is like Daniel’s scriptures of the friends in the furnace fire who stood with Jesus and came out unscathed… Yes, aren’t we all like Daniel’s friends who are going to come out unscathed when we eventually hit eternal life because this life will just drop away and we will be with God forever??? yeah that’s why God’s working his assets off…

… and that’s why I think Michael Card is working his assets off to… he said he could sit at home and watch TV but he would miss the people too much… I’m so glad Michael Card loves the people…

I’m so eternally glad God loves HIS people.
