Not Legions of Angels, Not Swords, Just Jesus, 01JUL

What do we need to fulfill God’s ultimate eternal life plan for us? Just Jesus.  Nothing more than love Jesus. Also if we try to be like Him we will help others realize that too.

What about just getting thru life just for today? Piecemeal, minute by minute living? Focus or fractured living? Even the times that we are forgetting that we are already saved? Well, we still need Jesus…

Jesus cried out to stop the apostles from fighting against His arrest in the Gesemene Garden that night. Jesus knew what they were forgetting about Him being handed over and Jesus said: “Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?  But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” Matthew 26

Jesus ultimately knew  God’s plan and could have stopped complying and not accepted His role.  He could have asked for legions of angels – He could have shown more power than we could ever imagine… but instead Jesus accepted… Jesus was true as the truth… Jesus is our perfect role model… He knew the scriptures were to be fulfilled because He Himself was the fulfillment.  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…

So now, in our angst moments, can we also call upon 12 legions of angels? Yes, I suppose so! Jesus certainly said that we can call upon the Father, His Father, Our Father. Would Jesus call upon 12 legions of angels now for us? I would have to believe that answer is YES, Jesus could – and I would expect that since the Spirit intercedes for us, God would send them… but guess what? Jesus asked the father to send us all the Holy Spirit!!! I am sure that Jesus can call upon people in the here and now to come together for us to make our way and to bless us with a path for our future.

Jesus wants us walking in the path to our future with Him.

Amen

Never Tire of Doing What is Good, 24JUN

Mother Theresa said: “never tire of doing what is good.”

Praying for your strength today:

“May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.” – “Encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”

2 Thessalonians 2-3 (NIV)

Stand Firm

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Request for Prayer

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Warning Against Idleness

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.

And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.

Final Greetings

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
