Blessed are those who are Blessed

Standard

Wrapped up vacation bible school with an ice cream party after their presentation of songs and a slideshow. It was nice to sit, nice to only have to slice bananas and serve whipped cream. I didn’t get to see the other stations during the week because I was busy in mine, the crafts, but that is OK because we must realize we CAN’T be everywhere at once, but I can imagine them. We also CAN’T be in every life stage at once, but we may be able to imagine them. We just simply today have to appreciate being in TODAY.

We essentially never will have enough time. Or will we? I often wonder (in my limited wondering time) what will Heaven be like with endless time? I don’t get it, don’t understand it, can’t wrap my head around it, fittingly so because my head seems finite and yet in it, God has put the key to eternity, Jesus bringing us home.

You know what? Let’s just get through today!

Will we be bored in Heaven? Will things seem routine? Well, without knowing I highly doubt that they will. Once I get there, I’ll let you know with a big “Oh!!!” I guess I’m not supposed to worry about a place that has no worries.

Once I get to the place, I am sure the one thing lacking, for all of eternity, is WORRY. I can imagine human emotions in heaven, but how difficult to imagine Heaven’s emotions on earth. One I am sure of, that will exist, is the emotion of “It will be OK, keep moving.” I think we get plenty of practice of that now. The “Owwwws” becoming “Wows”, in Heaven, we will get to that place where God moved us into realizing He won the battle and the war. I bet we will also have lots of “OHHHH’s – that’s how God wanted to use me.”

Meanwhile, let us put on the full armor of God, like that shield of faith, like those shoes and breastplate, and especially not a crown but a helmet of salvation, because there’s still battles here. And like an army, even in reserve, we fight not each other but the darts from the evil one.

Keep the battle of today in today, and stay in the fight. And keep in the blessed things of today blessedly, and stay in the Light. Then one day in Heaven we will say: Blessed are those who are blessed. Blessed are we, alright!

Remember that the War has already been won.

Amen

Solomon concludes his writings (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14):

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Psalm 119:1-16, 130-133

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart – they do no wrong but follow his ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I open my mouth and pant,  longing for your commands. Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.
