God is Nigh, which means God is close, that’s all I know of Taps, which is good to resonate in my head from the hauntingly beautiful bugle serenade of my uncle’s memorial service yesterday, a beautifully warm day in March. We stood briefly as time was still but not, overlooking the pond, with a military gun salute so beautiful in appreciation of service to country.
The day, as the night before, was filled with family and love. My uncle was a man of faith as well as full of love for his family, many grateful folks spoke of his gentle nature and being truly the one going down “the road less travelled” – quoted on his cremation box – his favorite Robert Frost poem, whom he met, and had autograph a copy of one poetry book.
The Detroit Lions memorabilia was sweet, my uncle appreciated his teams, his fun, his life… My uncle was full of life. God does that, He makes us energetic and appreciative.
The Lion of the Lord then ROARS and calls His cubs of children HOME. The Lamb of the Lord, Jesus, leads His little dutiful sheep, secures them as their Shepherd, and carries them Home. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, Lion and the Lamb. Jesus is our Lord and Master, Friend and Savior, Helper and Healer, and Heavenly Hope.
Thank You Lord for Your Lion’s Roar of Loyalty and Your Lamb’s Save for Eternity.
Amen
(And Uncle Joe, say Hi to Jesus, to my Dad and our family and everyone for us. We will meet you again in the end, and new beginning… amen)
