Communication, Communing, Continuing – 1 – PRAYER

Standard

I’m going to be on vacation – doing VBS at the beach-close church and then beach in the afternoon. I will pack my swimsuit, towel, prayers and patience – because apparently the Lord has picked NOT my thoughts of the situation (again) – but picked HIS path for me this week – in which that He will make a way for His Way…  So my job is to SHOW UP – and then I am going to help with one of the groups of kids – station to station – packing that extra dose of patience (for myself) is key… and before I pack my patience – I need to pump up my prayers – Lord, show me the way to help these children see YOUR WAY – make me an instrument of your peace, prayer, purpose, poise, power, and patience.

For a week’s worth of devotions that I will pre-release on my blog page – free up my mornings for jumping right into VBS…  Have a great week!

Seven of John Wesley’s Practices Can Change Hearts Today – an article by Roger Ross: Tactics that John Wesley used to get the Word of God out… The author of this blog reminds us to use these tactics ourselves! http://www.churchleadership.com/leadingideas/leaddocs/2016/160330_article.html

Seven practices emerged as characteristic of the early Methodist movement.

NUMBER 1: Be Devoted to Prayer – “Wesley rediscovered what the church of his day had forgotten: prayer releases the power of God. He called prayer “the grand means of drawing near to God” and found believing, persistent prayer to be the necessary first step to see God move. He modeled this conviction by devoting at least two hours a day to personal prayer and made fervent prayer a hallmark of the movement.”

“As a priest in the Church of England, John Wesley was distraught by the powerlessness of the church to reach the vast majority of British people. God’s spirit created such a holy discontent in Wesley’s heart that he abandoned conventional modes of ministry and experimented with several innovative approaches. To everyone’s surprise, spiritual revival broke out in England and beyond. If you’re like me, you may wonder, “If God could do that then, why not now?”

(AMEN – Prayer makes all the difference because you really do release the situation to God to handle! AMEN)
