I returned from my trip, here is a writing that I pre-started while on the trip – about feeding the birds and being fed ourselves.
I did not feed any birds today, but wow, I was certainly fed!!! Wow vacation food amazing, hotel breakfast and dinners and wow amazing food and amazing sugar sugar sugar sugar… and I got some protein in too… and a little bread… I had excess bread and filled my left pocket (and when I got home there were still lots of crumbs in it).
Most days I can and even the day I left, I feed the birds. So on the day I left, train to the plane, I accidentally missed getting off at the station at the airport, oops. So I had to get off at the next station and wait ten minutes for a train to go backwards – I RARELY – well never – do that – but it happens when you are not paying attention… It thankfully didn’t cut into my excessive prep time too much, only 30 minutes, and I made it to security, the plane etc… whew!
And I had extra bread, so I decided to feed the birds at the station… it made me happy – happier to share… And I imagine the truth of that scripture: if God takes care of these birds, how much MORE He is taking care of us…
And when I got to Vienna, I had extra bread and I fed the pigeons… pigeons are like the unwanted but isn’t it so amazing that pigeons have this beautiful purple sheen to their feathers. And they certainly get enough food even in the middle of a city. God takes care of those birds… surely He take care of us… and I’m not just talking about food.
Today I did not see any birds, but the weather was bad for birds today, in the tiny town that I was in. I was thankful for my nice boots and also thankful for my warm clothes and I was thankful for the place I was going to and the place I came from – as well as being able to travel to the places in general – with lots of opportunity to be thankful. I was thankful for friends, old and new, thankful for the opportunity to visit, and thankful I had a warm place to return to after a nice tour… and even though I am still shifted in sleep, I know the Lord has taken care of me immensely. I am the bird He has fed today – And yesterday… and the day before – and that He will feed tomorrow.
… and tomorrow after that… And I’m not just talking about food…
Be fed… Let the Lord share His with you.
Amen
Matthew 6:26-34 NKJV
Jesus said: Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
