Better RELIANCE Upon Wisdom from the LORD, Isaiah 28

“Like the ocean, it’s good to keep moving ahead in waves…”

That is a quote I came up with in response to my friend who is finding herself moving again. A separate person from my other friend moving but the same plan, downsize.  This friend from school moved south then north and is drawn back again south, to the ocean. Thus the quote I made about waves. “Like the ocean, it’s good to keep moving AHEAD in waves…”

Having downsized like twice now, this particular friend will start again in the lifestyle she used to have, but different, because this new past she is leaving behind, in stages, lightens her load. And it is not to pick up her old past again but make new. Her situation has changed – mostly by her choice – and it is time to move on – move to the new situation which will be new even if it is returning to a location she was already in. And her packing and peace will be in waves.

Not all situations are the same, and even if they seem similar, God makes them NEW for us, or at least makes us NEW in the same situation by His Mercies, which are fresh each morning.

“All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.”

I find reading and rereading scripture gives new insights. It is new to today even if I experienced it before. I love to see scripture that maybe I read but never absorbed – like in Isaiah 28 – about the Lord teaching the proper way for the proper situation – and changing tactics when it’s time. 

Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever.

Yeah…  Not all situations are the same – this is for people, for seasons, and for times – for the descriptive text in Isaiah about Soil and Grain, it’s like it means you have to apply life changes in attitude too. Isaiah said Caraway Cumin Spelt and Wheat – listen to the Lord in how you prepare it – how you grind it – how you plant it – how you harvest it. 

LIFE IS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS AND THEREFORE WE SHOULD LET THE LORD ADAPT US INTO HOW WE HANDLE THE CIRCUMSTANCES. 

Pay attention to the situation at hand. MOVE FORWARD ALWAYS. 

When we study what Jesus said to His disciples about the scripture of the cornerstone rejected but on which the kingdom being built, which they all recounted later in the gospels, we understand that Jesus was teaching THE WAY to have Jesus be OUR WAY. Jesus wants us to stand with Him when He is standing with us. Jesus wants us to build upon HIS WAY. This is true wisdom because with Jesus as our firm foundation we will be anchored and adaptable applying love.

In other words, when you find yourself in a situation where you COULD lash out – but the Lord HELPS you hold your tongue or roll something off your back. We can let Jesus be our foundation in standing up for His Way and standing up to simply walk away. The power to be patient is a true Godsend. 

We find that Jesus is asking WE APPLY HIS ATTITUDE. Jesus is saying: “Don’t sweat the small stuff” – Just let it roll off the back. MOVE FORWARD. 

To have BETTER RELIANCE UPON THE LORD’S WISDOM is WISE.

Isaiah 28: excerpts 16, 23-29 

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; …”

Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field? His God instructs him and teaches him the right way. Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is the wheel of a cart rolled over cumin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cumin with a stick. Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever. The wheels of a threshing cart may be rolled over it, but one does not use horses to grind grain. All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.

Mere Mortals, March Lions, and Dust Trails, Ashes in Lent

Ash Wednesday is a day to remember there is no escapism from our mere mortal status, from dust to dust, us AND our oppressors, the Lord is the One who will fight for us. The battle belongs to the Lord. Mere Mortals are Made More with God shepherding.

For after lent comes Easter – we are to remember that we ARE saved – Jesus rescued and rescues and will come again.

And so escapism scenarios, and just plain hiding from life won’t work. Escapism is not the same as surviving best. Yes, we all do wobble, but Psalm 23 says to WALK through the valleys of shadows, don’t stay and linger. 

In another “March in like a Lion” themed instance, Isaiah warns about the escapism of the ancient Israelites and Judah-ites thinking Egypt is their friend or at least a less evil compared to being carried away to Babylon for an exile said to be for 70 years. The Lord is purposeful in His ways, and Isaiah also told of the eventual downfall of Babylon. Isaiah later also speaks of a Messiah to save. We know Jesus came and finished the prophecies, and Jesus will come again and defeat evil one and for all. Even evil is exiled from existence eventually. Wait upon the Lord. 

Salvation Secured Saving – it is the Lord who Saves. Be available for transport and be working for the Lord despite danger and disillusionment with the world. Make moments meaningful despite monumental challenges. 

With coming from ashes and returning to ashes, we are to be reminded about God’s creation in us and God’s win over sin and death. Our ashes could be from burning through life, fiery and giving it your all until there’s nothing left in the tank. God’s ashes are His handiwork to move us more freely, and God-efficiently, thru life and into forever.

Don’t fear the ashes of death. Won’t in our travels we be lighter then? Dust trails behind us and in front. We will be rescued and restored, we will be with our Lord.

March Lions roar, but WITH the Lord, our souls will surely soar!

Isaiah 31-32:4 NIV

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord. Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against that wicked nation, against those who help evildoers.

But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.

This is what the Lord says to me: “As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey – and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor – so the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights. Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”

Return, you Israelites, to the One you have so greatly revolted against. For in that day every one of you will reject the idols of silver and gold your sinful hands have made. “Assyria will fall by no human sword; a sword, not of mortals, will devour them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be put to forced labor. Their stronghold will fall because of terror; at the sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic,” declares the Lord. whose fire is in Zion, whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice. Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen. The fearful heart will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

The Calmness of Heaven and STRENGTH

Standard

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 54:17b

I recently told my daughter, as we drove, that the apartment complex on the way to her work was where a friend of ours used to live before she passed from diabetic coma about 5 years ago, passed way too young and yet lived a full life to that point. My family loved her and she loved us and surely shaped a kind heart in our children as their forever Sunday School teacher and VBS craft lady. She was the sweetest and loved the Lord and loved people, most generous even when she was living on borrowed time and borrowed dime. She knew was not perfect, never pretended that. and knew she needed the Lord and people. She was in frail health with asthma and more, I’m appreciative that she didn’t fret through our covid-era of uncertainty that folks with good health freaked out in. I’m thankful that she is in Heaven for the most important reasons of wholeness in healing and seeing and embracing our Savior Jesus. I’m so thankful for the calmness of Heaven knowing God is in control even in the current spiritual battles waged for us in spiritual realms. I am thankful for knowing that now.

My friend was in my dream just this morning, she looked well, a white blouse, sat calmly next to me, I rarely saw her calm, and she spoke of something that now escapes my awake mind, only that we spoke of the realization that she was past into Heaven, knowing calmness, and passing good vibes back to us on the other side of the holy divide, (and maybe passing good candy too, lol)… Interesting dream that disappeared from my mind so rapidly like a vapor, even I wrote a wonderful devotion in that pre-awake moment, in my head, gone now, all I remember was there’s Isaiah scripture to now look up pertaining… give me one minute… ah yes.  

Ah, there are so MANY good scriptures in Isaiah of being certain that the Lord fights our battles, wins our wars, lives to lead us, died to save us, rose to rescue us, and now calms us in any storm including death. Jesus is our Salvation and STRENGTH.

Interesting how we are to think of STRENGTH for the day, and we need it. Especially we need to have STRENGTHEN to remember God has a calmness in Heaven which could be passed to us on earth if we remember that He has everything under control. Nothing in His Word returns void. 

Yes, better than heavenly candy is heavenly calmness that we will have, let us tap into that now, today, and be strong to live the life we are called to live.  “Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength!”

…. ISAIAH WRITES 500 YEARS PRIOR IN PROPHECY AS IF JESUS HAS ALREADY COME HAD ALREADY WON – HE HAD HE HAS HE WILL HE WON.  

All of Isaiah 53: 

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered,  he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Don’t Just Wait for Time with God, TAKE IT

It’s both a privilege and a need for vacation downtime. It’s not just a change of scenery that helps, but a change of one’s frame of mind in the same scenery, because a staycation even for one day can be so productive mentally for yourself. I’m planning half-days vacation to finish off the year. I’ll probably start my Christmas cards and various projects and just BE.

I enjoyed Christmas here and time up home too, and enjoyed that which was focused on family (work family too) and merriment – and church family and being in a spirit of giving. (Still giving leftovers too)… With new year upon us, and resolutions, it’s an important time to give up the most convoluted stress we hold: OUR EXPECTATIONS. God does remind us to take and live one day at a time, so expectations are our sinful stealing the future away to our own desires. Let us let the Lord lead and fulfill the time instead. God’s got this.

Nicely Christmas becomes (hopefully) a refocus on time with God, because God took the time to be with us, coming to earth. God didn’t just wait for the fulfilment of time to be with us, He made it, meaning He fulfilled it.

So let us take time with God, don’t just wait for it, but make it. Make time you take to be His. 

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

Clearly God-dedication times are more mentally productive than anything else. Moments or months are best made by consulting the Lord. 

When I take morning time to read and infuse scripture pertaining to my life and/or expounding upon how it pertains to all of us, or a few, it’s a mission of the moment. And absorbing scripture is a personal journey because in sticky situations, when prayed about, one will often be given direction by the scriptures.

God can move mountains, yet it doesn’t mean the instant resolution of problems. So often, like the serenity prayer, one will TRY to discern the things that you can change and those you can’t and the wisdom to know the difference. Best of course to PUT IT ALL in God’s Hands and see what He Hands back and what He doesn’t. We can’t do anything without God. REMEMBER, HE WORKS IN A WAY WELL ABOVE OUR WAYS.

So, in moments before this year’s closes, do not fret over the lost time or over-engineer the future, just BE. Just be in His Time for you. He MADE time and set aside time, we can too.

Walk with the Lord, decompress and all the rest. The Lord always has TIME for us.

Isaiah 55:8-12

White as Christmas Snow, Isaiah’s Forecast

I didn’t know the snow would stick, it’s BEAUTIFUL!!! Just enough to be pretty, will probably melt later, won’t stick around for a white Christmas, but technically I can say we have snow! It’s even on the winter solstice!

It was sort of predicted, without the hype this time around! I had just gotten my “SNOWBARU” car decorations on, a new wreath this year with big flakes when the real stuff came, unexpectedly, and I appreciated it melting on a busy Christmas-time preparation day. Still much to do…

Expectation and appreciation for a White as Snow situation was unfolding in a manger in Bethlehem, in the Christmas gift of Christ. Isaiah forecasted this, he predicted in prophesy, and became a scribe of the Lord’s special message, for a Savior would come, Who would cleanse the sins of all “WHITE AS SNOW”…

Reading Isaiah, it is clear the earth’s people would take a while to respond, as the prophets told of Jesus coming, but only a few saw the light through the hundreds of years passing… Only a few knew to look. It’s so clear now IN the LIGHT, but for those who walk in darkness still, we pray they see. It’s still a long winter, so much to do before spring. If only we can see the preparation time as purposeful. 

Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow”

So, in an AMAZING Way, the Lord brings as CHRISTMAS SNOW – His mercy and grace to last forever – to forgive us – to bring us into His fold. Jesus was prophesied to come to earth and shepherd us, although His physical body melted as snow, pain and sorrow in a short 33years before crucifixion, HE ROSE and rehydrated our lives with His Living Water, and separated our sin far away from us. WASHED CLEAN. Christmas, Easter and Forever. 

A gift of a Savior is SALVATION FOREVER. Thank you Isaiah for your forecast. Thank You Lord for the snow, and You as our GIFT. 

Now that is perfect Christmas preparation…

The Lord Comforts Zion

“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.”

For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

“Listen to Me, My people; And give ear to Me, O My nation: For law will proceed from Me, And I will make My justice rest As a light of the peoples. My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arm they will trust. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished.

Our Heavenly Father Potter

I looked up to the sky (well actually the ceiling as I was inside) as I was PRAISING GOD for some good data in the lab, PROGRESS. And it hit me, just Holy Spirit fashion just then, seeing the fire alarm label, it said POTTER. Hmmmm… our Heavenly Father Potter. Hmmmm…

Yes, for this lab work, it’s been quite the process for FINDING THE TIME, bigger chunks of time, to do the lengthy steps. It’s not that the work is hard, but it has to be precise, and it really needs time – uninterrupted time. OH, TIME… Oh that’s what a Potter needs, to work us with TIME. Lord, You do know that we need Your help and molding.

And then I thought it funny when the graphical output of some of my data had 2 humps in the unmistakable reminder of a TV cartoon monster from Bugs Bunny – so funny – I saw the orange hairy monster instantly in my head. Our brains and memories are so marvelous. I mentioned this to my coworker of the same vintage and she said “the one with the sneakers?” YEAH!

The monster wasn’t scary to Bugs Bunny and Bugs always had an ulterior motivation of distraction that fueled his actions, like pretending to give this monster a spa treatment day just for distraction… Why this all screamed in my head I don’t know…

What was I talking about? Oh yes, the fire alarm, THE POTTER, oh yes THE FATHER, OH YES THE PRAISING! But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

And what about ‘the pottery of us’??? Of me??? Was I being tested to see if I could find that level of asking for help? Was I just in a place to be place-held for Your purposes, Lord, unknown and known? What step is this in my life as clay? As formed? As drying and getting stronger, or fired in the kiln ready for decoration… ??? Hmmmm…. The fire alarm was quiet, but the scripture reference blasted into my head all weekend, even seeing other references. The Potter. 

Hmmm… if my brain thinks randomly with cartoon characters, then surely I need the scriptures even more to refocus me… And then even more I must believe God’s non-random signal is simply to know that: I am HIS. WE ARE HIS. And keep keepin’ on…

Oh, MOLD ME, Lord, and please do let me see the finished product someday with Jesus leading the Way, His Way. 

This clay and Potter scripture from Isaiah (excerpts 64:4-9 below) does speak VOLUMES of who God is, and the blessings of us being molded, BEING SAVED,  being attended to because of God’s Righteousness. And it speaks of a people Israel who failed to follow God, and it speaks of ALL of us needing to return to God as Lord.

May we return and capture our thoughts into Your clay too, Lord, help mold our steps today.

For since the beginning of the world

Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned – In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved.

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. …

.

But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

Do not be furious, O Lord, Nor remember iniquity forever; Indeed, please look – we all are Your people!

God’s Battles, Victories and Decisions, Joel 3 and Isaiah 2

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!…”

“… the Lord will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.”

“But Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation. For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted; For the Lord dwells in Zion.”

The battles of the Lord are His to fight and He will win and cause judgement – whoa for us to be judged, but we will be and with judgement comes correction. The Lord will judge the nations and the peoples, He also had and has plans to heal them, allowing His people to prosper. It’s quite the battle first however. Scriptures of Joel and Isaiah remind us to BE HIS. His time of judgement will come.

Swords And Spears into or from plowshares and pruning hooks – Joel 3 speaks of awakening nations to get ready for battle, and Isaiah 2 speaks of turning battles into peace by letting God do the fighting and the judging. There will be both. God’s people will be protected and a roar of battle will be intense. God’s roar against false idols to prevail, just as He will prevail against the distractions and the evil today. There are SO MANY reminders to pay attention to the Lord  – He has prevailed and He will prevail for His People. We MUST be focused upon Him.

Lord Jesus come quickly.

God Judges the Nations

“For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. They have cast lots for My people, Have given a boy as payment for a harlot, And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink.

“Indeed, what have you to do with Me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the coasts of Philistia? Will you retaliate against Me? But if you retaliate against Me, Swiftly and speedily I will return your retaliation upon your own head; Because you have taken My silver and My gold, And have carried into your temples My prized possessions. Also the people of Judah and the people of Jerusalem You have sold to the Greeks, That you may remove them far from their borders.

“Behold, I will raise them Out of the place to which you have sold them, And will return your retaliation upon your own head. I will sell your sons and your daughters Into the hand of the people of Judah, And they will sell them to the Sabeans, To a people far off; For the Lord has spoken.”

Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up. Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’ ” Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord.

“Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow – For their wickedness is great.”

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will grow dark,

And the stars will diminish their brightness. The Lord also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake; But the Lord will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.

“So you shall know that I am the Lord your God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, And no aliens shall ever pass through her again.”

God Blesses His People

And it will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord And water the Valley of Acacias.

“Egypt shall be a desolation, And Edom a desolate wilderness, Because of violence against the people of Judah, For they have shed innocent blood in their land. But Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation. For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted; For the Lord dwells in Zion.”

The Future House of God

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.

The Day of the Lord

O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the Lord. For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with eastern ways; They are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they are pleased with the children of foreigners. Their land is also full of silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures; Their land is also full of horses, And there is no end to their chariots. Their land is also full of idols; They worship the work of their own hands, That which their own fingers have made. People bow down, And each man humbles himself; Therefore do not forgive them.

Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

For the day of the Lord of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up – And it shall be brought low – Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan; Upon all the high mountains, And upon all the hills that are lifted up; Upon every high tower, And upon every fortified wall; Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all the beautiful sloops. The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; The Lord alone will be exalted in that day, But the idols He shall utterly abolish.

They shall go into the holes of the rocks, And into the caves of the earth, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily. In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver And his idols of gold, Which they made, each for himself to worship, To the moles and bats, To go into the clefts of the rocks, And into the crags of the rugged rocks, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily. Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he? 

Recovery and Fulfillment, Jeremiah 46 and Jesus

I’ve come back to the old testament, major prophet, Jeremiah, chapter 46, and he’s telling us of the conflict and win of Babylon over Egypt, of the warnings and rescues. There are descendants of Jacob that the Lord is attending to, correcting and protecting, and they have scattered.

“Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure;…”

And the Lord’s Promise Covenant will RESTORE His faithful. Restore if not in the present then in the forever future. Jesus Himself being the Promise came to earth for FULFILLMENT of the Promise and was able to explain this as He taught. He then explained that we have FULFILLMENT yet to come.

Think of the rich man who was dismayed when Jesus told him to give up everything and “Follow Me”. Jesus told the disciples that they, who did give up their day to day lives, would recover their losses 100-fold. God would cover it and them in the present and the future. 

Isaiah wrote in His Prophecy, that the Messiah, the Christ, would come. A new book, also for beach reading, will be “Be Comforted” by teacher William Wiersbe, based on Isaiah. The whole Bible has one-fourth of its writing devoted to prophesy. The Light shining is that of truth and hope.  How hard it is to remember to be strong and courageous in today’s troubles – well Jesus has left us many a legacy to learn and trust and look for Him.

The Lord gives us, the past, the present, the future, AND the FULFILLMENT. 

Let us start our day, our week, our moment with knowing the Promise fulfilled. These are temporary times, so keep keepin’ on. And keep moving forward.

Jeremiah 46:25-28

The Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “I am about to bring punishment on Amon god of Thebes, on Pharaoh, on Egypt and her gods and her kings, and on those who rely on Pharaoh. I will give them into the hands of those who want to kill them—Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. Later, however, Egypt will be inhabited as in times past,” declares the Lord.

“Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant; do not be dismayed, Israel. I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and security, and no one will make him afraid. Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant, for I am with you,” declares the Lord. “Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not.completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

Mark 10:24-31

Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Clay Pots needing to be filled – Jeremiah 18

Even angels long to look into these things.

Oh Holy Spirit – I love the Lord’s Word – it is meaty and solid and yet leaves plenty of room for a space in the middle of you to be open and receiving and movable and fresh – yes – a jar of clay that has that space for the Holy Spirit to be in us – a fresh filling!  The Holy Spirit brings us the Glory of God in our midst – we are to call upon Him and ask for a fresh filling.  While discussing the Holy Spirit in my bible study class and how we are made of clay by our Father the Potter, I find today here in Old Testament book of  Jeremiah, where he instructs the people based on the messages directly given to Him by God, that God says “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. This was God’s message to have Israel repent. Jeremiah was watching a potter at his wheel reworking old clay into a new vessel, “shaping it as seemed best to him.”

We are formed and remain His, He forms us as He sees best. As Isaiah (chapter 64:8) teaches: But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. Do not be furious, O Lord, Nor remember iniquity forever; Indeed, please look—we all are Your people!

In the New Testament, Paul writes a letter to the Corinthians that we are jars of clay, hard pressed by the world – the stress and the circumstances – but honestly that makes us stronger and able to be filled. STRONG and able to hold something! We are shaped by the inside and the outside to be functional and fillable. We are to ask for this fresh filling of the Holy Spirit – a baptism of Spirit.

Oh to be re-filled and re-filled and movable and ready to be poured out into a situation. Oh Lord, we ARE clay pots needing to be filled. Even angels long to look into these things – the Spirit pointing us to Jesus.

Thank You Lord for the work of Your Hands and the Life of Your Son and the Spirit of Yourself bringing us always to see Your Majesty and Plan.

At the Potter’s House (Jeremiah 18:1-11)

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.  Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it. Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’

2 Corinthians 4:6-18 NKJV

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you. * And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. * Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1Peter 1:8-12

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
