Come and Find PEACE, 25Nov
One month until Christmas… Whew… Prince of PEACE is coming, but actually He’s here. And He’s looking for us.
We wish at this time of year for others to BE at peace, to grow the peace. We wish to share God’s PEACE.
We know Jesus is looking for a place, we hope others will take HIM in as we have… We all wish for HIM to grow in the hearts of all mankind… We wish to grow Him evermore in our hearts too.
If there’s no room in our crowded lives for even more Jesus, then He will wait patiently until we make room… Just like a baby in the stable, asleep in the manger, He will just wait… And like a baby, He will start to wriggle; He will want to be fed… And when He’s fed He will grow and be even more hungry… Jesus came not just to give peace, He was tasked to GROW – to grow the peace, to change the world – one heart at a time… So to grow peace in our lives we must feed Jesus, we must seek HIM to find PEACE.
When I had gestational diabetes with my daughter I was shocked… Then, when I realized what was happening, I changed my lifestyle for the sake of my baby… Later I felt blessed… This was a correction factor I totally needed… I was eating awful, I had no control over my nutrition, and I was in a stressed state of pregnancy, I was scared and not at peace… This baby was everything to me… everything… I changed… Gestational diabetes was a blessing wakeup call… There is no better motivation then the health of your child… I changed my diet, followed the diabetes plans, peanut butter became my friend… I wore a timer around my neck, I tested my sugar, I made charts and documented like the dutiful scientist I was… I ate healthy… I ate for my baby rather than just for me… I then found out my baby had a single umbilical artery, instead of two… not enough nutrition could enter, every bite I ate was important, like every pregnancy… As unchecked gestational diabetes would allow the baby to be unhealthy overweight, a single artery might make the baby underweight… I had both to balance, I had to change. I was the one to hold the balance in how I approached this pregnancy, I had to find PEACE so I changed, my baby born six weeks early from another complication I never saw coming, but my baby was fine, my fifteen year old now is beautiful… My baby had grown to a healthy five pounds… My efforts of balance in eating changed into a new mission of balancing life as a mom, a forever job – a calling – a mission… being a Mom is a lifestyle… Yes you can always find work with mom skills…
Gestational diabetes was a wake up, my lifestyle change forced. Yet later my eating returned to haphazard, I knew gestational diabetes meant future diabetes, but that seemed so far off. I ate well ONLY when I had a baby to grow, baby two was a completely different pregnancy, and aside from the emergency c-section (he was stuck in a marathon delivery – head turned – I think he was already hungry looking for food), yet it WAS a perfect pregnancy – I had found peace and balance in pregnancy.
Years went by, another pregnancy of divine intervention… This time a Christmas baby of Spirit… Jesus came but I did NOT heed the call. I was veiled as those in 2nd Corinthians, I heard but I did NOT understand.
God called to me to birth His peace. I had no room in my inn… Jesus waited outside my doors – until I opened the door of my mind… Jesus was stuck…
Jesus was hungry, I wasn’t feeding myself in His Word… Jesus waited until God stacked the deck against my denials and crumbled my unbelief… This child was being born, I had to change…
Jesus is crying for the world to hear – for each of us to hear – Jesus wants us in God’s house for PEACE – HIS peace births our PEACE…
I cracked open the door a little and a MIGHTY WIND BLEW THE DOOR WAY OPEN!
You do anything for a baby… You change…
I had to learn to re-balance, I had to change. I was the one to hold the balance in how I approached this new life reborn in Christ… We continually are called to change. I changed my focus – I changed my lifestyle – changed my eating – changed how I spend my time – but it was God who changed my LIFE.
Change, Jesus is a catalyst for change. Jesus wants to grow in us… If our mangers can’t handle a growing Jesus then it’s time for us to make room… For God knows we need room for a grown up savior, one who is strong enough to rescue us when we fall asleep, strong enough to carry us to our eternal home with God… We have to feed our baby, our ravenous teen, and sustain our mighty Prince of PEACE… John 6 “40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
As Michael Card sings: “Come to the Cradle – come and find PEACE”… We find this baby waiting… waiting to be fed – to grow – this child is “wondrously wild”…
Moms feed their babies with milk and we all must remember to feed ourselves with spiritual milk… the baby Jesus is so hungry in our souls… Before feeding the world PEACE, we must feed our internal peace by feeding Jesus…. “Let there be PEACE on earth, and let it begin with me…”
We will stumble and we will suffer (Daniel 11, 1 Peter 4), but we look up… We know we are called to be Your child… Lord, and we reach to Christ’s hand for lifting… We pray for PEACE, Your PEACE…
Merry Christmas God, thank you for sharing Your GIFT of Jesus. Our GIFT to You is to work for You, our mission to feed Your sheep, to tell the world of Your PEACE.. Your GIFT to us is to BE one of Your sheep, to open Your GIFT of PEACE… And to share this GIFT forever…
2 Corinthians 3
12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
33 “Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
Come to the Cradle, Michael Card, partial lyrics
Come to the cradle
Come and find peace
Alone in the cradle
Behold perfect wisdom
So gentle and mild
In the innocent upward
Trusting glance of a child
Come hear the call
Of sweet sighs in the dark
Their touches, tender
Touches your heart
The bustle and business
Lasts year after year
But this little baby
Won’t always be here
1 Peter 4 (NIV)
Living for God
4 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you. 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Suffering for Being a Christian
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
