In the Dark, 19NOV
Often God keeps us in the dark… Of course I mean the figure of speech because there is no way we know God’s plan, God’s timing… God does has a plan though, I am convinced and convicted to that notion, it’s quite surprising at times, but it’s real… And we are in God’s plan – I feel that for sure…
The how’s and why’s ??? – well keep dreaming – I’ve asked God for a backstage pass when (if) I get to heaven – but it’s not my role to expect these answers here on earth… God is NOT our buddy, He’s our master… And if HE WANTS us to be in the dark about something then we are in the dark…
Yeah though – most definitely HE gives us the LIGHT – this gift of an internalized warming bright survival beacon LIGHT of Jesus!!! But our understanding of the ins and outs of all the tests we endure? of all the twists and turns our lives take and how they fit into His plan??? …well that is shared only on a “need to know basis”…
Our path requires us to live and walk by faith NOT by sight… 2Corinthians
God pulls us thru life despite ourselves; constantly angels must be tweaking the system and saving us, buffering our path… Lord knows I feel these last minute saves to my earthly existence, especially when I jeopardize my own life by being human… Lord knows I am grateful, but I probably don’t have a clue how many saves I’ve gotten… To get a save should increase our meditation of His plan for us… Scares will cause us fear, but do we learn? God wants us to learn – He is Our Father.
He is reminding us that we are to fear His power, and we are to trust and obey… He reminds us we are part of His plan…
“Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.” Psalm 2
If we were to understand it all? well we would likely be stopped in our tracks in wonder, but God needs us to keep moving, to pick up our crosses and move… We are to live on a “need to know basis”, so that we keep moving forward.
The dark is not so dark when we trust in the one God sent… Our LIGHT is FROM Jesus shining thru us… Our consciousness is our beacon…
Our LIGHT is shined internally; our paths are illuminated as we walk towards LIGHT…
Our LIGHT is shined externally; our paths illuminate this witness to our faith.
The path is ours and ours alone… If we are shedding our old selves, then we can see how the SPIRIT gives us a new identity… This also gives us strength to embrace and to live that new life… “In Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God…” 2Cor5
Michael Card sings and speaks to this in a video about “And Dreams”:
That we need Jesus to find us, He gives us a new identity in HIM.
We are in the dark – purposefully – for the LIGHT to find us, after we are open to the LIGHT of Jesus, then it’s up to us to run with it… “7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.” Galatians 5
I thank you Lord for the light, and for the race, please help me to accept Your plans with faith and thanksgiving, let your LIGHT come into the dark – in us and in the world…. Blessed are those who “delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.” Psalm1
I trust You Lord…
I will listen to follow You Lord, to walk by faith…
You give us LIGHT, LIFE, and LOVE…
You give us strength…
Hebrews 12: … let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
2Corinthians 5 (NIV)
Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
13 If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 2: “Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 13 (NIV):
12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. 13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. 14 For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
