Discussing gardening, flowers, vegetables, and fruits. Seeds and seed catalogs… it’s a passion for my family. For me, speaking about the Lord and Savior and salvation became a great passion, when I realized His passion for saving us, yet many seeds have yet to be planted. Seeds have to be planted fresh for the season.
You probably know this feeling as a gardener, that growing your own and then enjoying the harvest is the best feeling, best taste too. Even if I don’t get much out of my garden, I hope to get more than the rabbits and groundhog do. It’s not about the money either, more goes in the cost of preparing it than simply buying at the market. But what’s fresh and what becomes a fruit of your labor is so very sweet.
That’s how God gardens for us. His gentle planting, His firm cultivating. His immense LOVE.
He IS the Whole Good Seed Planter and Gardener. His Hands are Harvesting Hands too. And He weeps for the waste, the wasted lives, and those who hear but never bloom. He cares little about the time as He will be the most patient. He cares nothing about the money, as His crop are priceless and delicately made. We are His dust swirled and done in a whisper. Flowers fade but Faith Forevers us.
In my house, we may have a copy of an earthly Whole Seed Catalog, but in His House He catalogs ALL His Seeds and knows each of them. We are all His own, and we are planted to flourish FOR Him. He LOVES each of us to make us for HIMSELF to be WHOLE.
We are mini gardeners for our small families. We must speak of the Lord and His forgiveness and forever-ness, because if we don’t, who will? We are to be keeping Hope and tilling soils of His Souls who are in our sights. Our Children yes, and our Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters, our toil for Him always is our blessing, as we are to share in His Labor, His Bloom, His WHOLE.
Grow your own. He certainly does.
King David praised a song for us all in Psalm 103:
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
