May the Wisdom Be With You, 04MAY – #1146

Standard

It’s not “may the fourth/force be with you” as much as we ought to say “may you be with the Lord’s plans.” Ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’  and

May the Wisdom Be With You.

When the alarm rang last night, I was already in my pjs, I then remembered the bible study I forgot,  I had to drop my random nonsense plans for the evening and open up my sensible chapter to read, about gaining WISDOM from the book of James. Excellent and the scripture is timeless and timely. I had 30 minutes to refocus on the Lord, thank God it is a zoom at home to the other coasts, those working mom folks are hungry with kids clamoring at 6pm, me on the other coast I’m tired at 9pm, I’m the cranky kid clamoring instead. Face it, I would have fallen asleep on the couch anyway. That’s why I don’t partake in this bible study zoom on the couch but in the kitchen on the hard uncomfy chairs. And yes, I did once fall asleep, got too comfy, and the host graciously turned my camera off, I woke up 20 minutes later, ugh, I had to laugh it off but God’s grace is no laughing matter, turn your joy to mumble to humble. Get wisdom at any cost.

Grace, we get grace because others have the wisdom to extend it no matter how much they don’t understand us or if we upset them. We need to do the same for everyone. We are recipients of Grace more often than we ourselves extend it.

The bible study once again was perfect, James 4, we are a moment, He is eternal. “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. “How many times have I read that bible verse, sung it as a song, yet how fast I forget and build my life myself. Too much. We should not boast about our plans nor plan our lives without God. SO TRUE. We don’t know tomorrow, BUT HE DOES. He knows and He has already gone there – and gone ahead of us – He will flash the follow me signs if we look. And so the Lord also knows the level of Grace to apply for our future steps as well. That’s why sometimes when I pray direction, and try to listen, I get simple ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and ‘wait’ for His answers. Other than that He would have preferred I get wisdom from His Word. If I hear little, it’s perhaps that I have asked about something too far ahead. Step back to the moment. Prepare for the Kingdom future, not mine, not ours, but be careful to step to His path. Life or anything won’t proceed without God building it. God gives grace to us sliding down the embankment away from the path. He sends help, or puts big trees on the side to catch us. We rest and realize.

Let us repeat this mantra today: MAY THE WISDOM BE WITH YOU!

May we listen too.
AMEN

James 4:14-17 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. WHAT IS YOUR LIFE? YOU ARE A MIST that  appears for a little while and then vanishes.  Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

from Psalm 127 (from Solomon) Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat– for he grants sleep to those he loves…

Proverbs 4 (from Solomon)

Get Wisdom at Any Cost
4 Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
    pay attention and gain understanding.
2 I give you sound learning,
    so do not forsake my teaching.
3 For I too was a son to my father,
    still tender, and cherished by my mother.
4 Then he taught me, and he said to me,
    “Take hold of my words with all your heart;
    keep my commands, and you will live.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding;
    do not forget my words or turn away from them.
6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
    love her, and she will watch over you.
7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
    Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
8 Cherish her, and she will exalt you;
    embrace her, and she will honor you.
9 She will give you a garland to grace your head
    and present you with a glorious crown.”

10 Listen, my son, accept what I say,
    and the years of your life will be many.
11 I instruct you in the way of wisdom
    and lead you along straight paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
    when you run, you will not stumble.
13 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;
    guard it well, for it is your life.
14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
    or walk in the way of evildoers.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
    turn from it and go on your way.
16 For they cannot rest until they do evil;
    they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
17 They eat the bread of wickedness
    and drink the wine of violence.

18 The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
    shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
    they do not know what makes them stumble.

20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
    turn your ear to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
    keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
    and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.
24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
    fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.

27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
    keep your foot from evil.
