If you have direction from the Lord: TAKE IT, MAKE IT, DO NOT FORSAKE IT.
Amen – and read the story of God’s named craftsmen: Bezalel and Oholiab:
Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law with the atonement cover on it, and all the other furnishings of the tent— the table and its articles, the pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its stand— and also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests, and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I commanded you.” Exodus 31:1-11
Clearly each person has skills, expertise and passion. Passion for one’s work is not against/contrary to passion for God, if He gave you the skills to use, then use them. I always tell people: “If God gave us brains, we should use them.”
To use our brains wisely, we need God to fill us with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills. To use our hearts, our fail-able hearts, we need to protect them.
If God appoints you to a certain work, then He points your education in that direction. “Equips the called not call the equipped”… Even the 4 gospels are written by those whom God educated to share with certain people with pointed persuasions: to those learning and amazed, to those new believers. Written by passionate folk and for sharing wisdom-giving understanding. God able-ly gives ability to skill the skilled workers to make everything He commands. Sometimes it is physical and sometimes it is directional of thought. Always it is for an end purpose – even consider it an intermediate as we are never divinely done.
TAKE IT, MAKE IT, DO NOT FORSAKE IT.
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
