Pleased as Peace. Oh Canada day 1

Standard

I had a good night sleep and really enjoyed breakfast with my youngest at a nice pancake place – it was good to spend time together before the festivities start for the comic-con thing that my youngest is attending – I am just hanging out today and tomorrow – and Sunday he said he told his friends that he was “going to hang out with his mom!” – wow! Time is precious!

In the meantime well, the hotel is a good homebase – with wifi and good clean room – nice shower and in a safe place – which is also walking distance for “the con” (short for convention) attendees. I like seeing their costumes (called “cos-play” for costume-play) – and I like the good kids in geeked out gear just having fun – I mean what would you want to do if you were 21? you would just want to have fun…

I’m older – 56 – well, I like fun too – but honestly I like peace more now – and I like travel – and I like a good bargain and I like not wasting time – and there are lots more things I like, now that I am older, and things I don’t like… like – TRAFFIC – and after a wonderful peaceful half an hour – I did like 2 hours in random traffic trying to see what I should do next (nothing) then come back to homebase for something after doing nothing – couldn’t even find a decent grocery store – here it is all sprawl sprawl sprawl – and the airport… oh well

I think that we always have to remember that the short stints of fun are surrounded by the mundane or maddening or messes – but when we get that small window where everything is OK – well that is our ponderance and pause and slice of peace.

So for me – after nice late breakfast and then forcing myself to work on the computer for a couple hours – I drove out and found the one place I wanted to see – the Village at Black River for the bliss of 30 minutes – oh nice – oh SO nice – it was a dream spot – it was heavenly peaceful and the weather was perfect – and for the last half an hour before they closed – I left the hustle and hassle of the traffic here and stepped into a whole other world – one that made me: PLEASED AS PEACE…

I really think that is what the Lord wants us to find in HIM – the moment to pause – the moment to ponder – the moment to be IN PEACE – peace amongst all the particulars of problems…

Trust me the time spent was so short but so worth it – both with my youngest at breakfast and with myself at the village with the beautiful buildings and the lilacs…  I know it will rain tomorrow – but I plan to return with winter coat on and peace in my palate to pursue…

Pleased as Peace to pursue precious peace…

AMEN
