Well! Not only did I survive the ride, I mean the drive, to for the long weekend, I am blessed to watch my youngest grow more and more mature, including in driving… Yeah.
And trust me, even though you might think that my last couple days were slightly interesting, with the headlight thing, there’s no more tighter grip one can have in a car than on the “oh God”-bar, holding on, than when one is riding with one’s kid, newish driver but really a good driver, but WHEW, in pouring rain and winding roads for the first few hours. Whew… I prefer that I drive myself in my car… my hand still hurts from gripping and griping… whew… (but seriously I taught this “kid” on winding roads on purpose, they are good…) now I understand more of my own mother riding with me still, even though I’ve been driving for forty years, we just want to drive ourselves…
So yes, we made it safely, it’s a nice getaway.
But seriously, the scripture “I can do all things through Christ Who STRENGTHENS me” by Paul writing to the Philippians 4:24, is for much more than just for riding with your kid in a car. It’s for life it’s for everything. And ot is through Christ’s strength, not our own might or determination. I Can Through Christ, Not by Me Nor My Might.
Yes, it’s our weakness where He is made to show up as strong, because you stop relying on one’s own opinion, attitude, life-plan, et cetera – and instead find His Strength to push pull prod and ply…
And this is especially true when we want to be in the driver’s seat. Maybe this strength we need is seriously and simply to let HIM take charge, “Jesus take the wheel”…
Just add Jesus and trust…
I can do all things through Christ, especially TRY to.
Amen
