It’s a Crewel Crewel Summer, 19JUN – #1188

Standard

I love and need the saying: “When you think things are falling apart they are actually falling into place”… I love and NEED the scripture where Jesus says : “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; …. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”

In driving, the billboards speak, but it is the evil thoughts that twist the words to worries. Wouldn’t it be better if first we saw God’s plan for the day and the year and our lives? The sinister worry will rob our peace, tangle our thoughts. I saw a billboard, no idea what it was advertising, maybe air conditioners, but it used the song lyric “it’s a cruel cruel summer” – and I can’t get that music out of my head!!! And every time I remember worries of what might befall me this year  – this summer – (you know, normal worries like etc etc, you name it) I think of that billboard as a warning – but I shouldn’t. Yes, I should cherish the time with my blessings BUT how dare I PRE-decide that life will collapse – does the Lord tell me to do that? NO.  The Lord gives us such good things!!!! Really, don’t we worry for things we can’t control? And sidetracked on the road Jesus makes for us, we can worry over remembering that we are blessed. And we (I) worry for tomorrow when that day hasn’t even come.  (I mean – we worried all of last year – thru a pandemic which He helped us thru – why would today be any different?!)

It would be the devil himself that wants me to keep singing “it’s a cruel cruel summer”, he wants us tangled up in fear and drifting away. We must remember that it would be Jesus who untwists the fear into faith and ties us to His teachings. Give Jesus the burdens, take on His Hope. and sing a new song: NOT cruel but sing CREWEL. Crewel is an action, a piecing together, a created thick, often wool, woven thread which can be laid down beautifully and carefully. “It’s a Crewel Crewel summer” – YES –  Jesus is asking for us to trust Him, trust the stitching of today. Crewel embroidery has texture, depth, color, character… why wouldn’t the lives we live have the same.  Jesus is the one who wants to pause us and stitch us into his beautiful tapestry. We are His in His net, woven not wasted.

Trust the untangle, BE STILL and don’t twist into knots. Fear into faith, cruel into crewel, stitches into savoring saving. Let today be all about trust, let tomorrow WAIT. Also tomorrow, start the trust all over again..

Life will fall into place – Let’s fall into His arms one day at a time.

Amen
