It’s so good to be home. I got to sleep in my own bed and started my huge piles of laundry. And I woke up this morning knowing that I had the whole day free to do a planned project of sorting through boxes of family history, paperwork, which I brought south from home north… i sat outside under canopy and worked all day in just concentrated absorbing of info. But really just a relaxed day to consolidate big boxes into a few. Photos and cards and letters and letters and letters throughout the depression.
It’s a tremendous blessing to look at memories even if they are not my own memories. Actually, I think there are “memories to come”, because one day in heaven, I pray to meet all these people. And wow, how many questions will be answered… i am looking forward to seeing all these people.
Yes, memories yet to come.
Some of the treasures include photos of my Great Uncle, serving in world war 2. He sent photos and many, many letters from training. W
Then he was stationed in the south pacific. There’s pictures of my grandfather and family working out the houses they built. And there are extra ration coupons from WW2. It’s also amazing the sugar allotment, apparently, my grandmother must have used like 50 pounds of sugar for her canning, in 1944 because there’s four coupons extra. For Memorial Day, remind us to remember to count our blessings. And the whole box of letters from the nineteen twenties with family that we have not yet connected with, praying for that!
But what really made me smile was the beautiful cards sent at easter and christmas, pictures of Jesus, these also remind me that the Lord is working to make himself known to everyone. I pray all my relatives knew Jesus. Jesus surely was looking for them. And Jesus looks for us.
Times change, they really do, but the Lord does not change.
I’m looking forward to my the future memories, my cousins, my grandparents, my many aunts and uncles and the whole family of God. Memories yet to come…
Blessed
Amen
And God bless the soldiers…
