I left my “Jesus Always” book open to Sep 6th on purpose so that I would reread this passage again after I read it this morning. So needed…
The paraphrasing from Psalm 18, written in Jesus Calling lingo by author Sarah Young, speaks to me: “I don’t want you to focus overly much on what is ahead of you, wondering whether you’ll be able to cope with it. Only I know what your future really holds. Moreover I am the only One who fully understands what you’re capable of. I can alter your circumstances gradually or dramatically. In fact, I can widen the path you are walking on right now. I want you to realize how intricately involved in your life I am. I delight in taking care of you – Tweaking the situation you are in…”
I have lots of things ahead of me. We have a lot, each of us. And yet, Jesus wants us to take it only one step at a time. And not OVERLY focusing, it means to prep what you need to do, but don’t obsess on it. It’s different than “a watch pot, never boils” – it’s the scriptural truth of: “God’s Ways are above our ways…” wait on God… take it one day at a time, one moment at a time…
And waiting (and working) for the Lord is sometimes hard and sometimes easy. It takes a lot of listening. And the best we can do IS our best, and let the Lord take care of the rest…
God is our shield, we should always take refuge in Him.
Amen
