Clearly when people come into our lives, we can connect, even if they never met us. We can connect in prayer.
I am praying for the Pope right now, praying his recovery is good. I know that he has the best care, or at least I hope he does.
I often forget to continue to pray for people whom I prayed for recently, I like many are affected by the new requests, new events, pushing old ones out of our current memories. It’s like visiting a friend and 24:7 being with them, but after that we forget to check in, we mentally move on. It’s not that we love them any less, we just are newly preoccupied with the current scene.
And yet I often pray: “Lord, help all those I forgot about.” I do this because I am far than even close to awareness. That’s something we all cope with, limited brain soace, and not choosing ignorance, just human-ness. We pray for awareness or we want more ignorance of awful circumstances. We won’t ever match God’s awesomeness and care.
Apostle Paul would write the Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”
And so, today I pray to be aware, even as I choose to not have overwhelmed thoughts. Today I pray for the pope, for the thoughts I has yesterday, and for the forgets before that.
Lord, thank You for everything amazingly You do. Thank You For You.
Amen
Amen
Matthew 5:1-16 and James 5 are great advice.
