Go meet them where they are

Standard

It was very unusual to have both the warm temperature, the dry evening and no less than 7 fire pits around my block in my neighborhood, just perfect for halloween trick or treating.

I sat with one for the majority of giving out candy, and then simply walked around the block, like, I do on my normal exercise. There were so many neighbors outside. Did the kids don’t get accustomed to knocking on doors anymore. Especially since I have a little hill, it’s actually better that I meet the kids at the end of the driveway.

Just two doors down from my house I saw a neighbor whom I’ve only seen twice in 7 years. And met her son for the first time and he’s almost in kindergarten. We get stuck in the rut of our own houses and our own world. It’s like my neighbor with 2 sheets in his rocking chairs, we tend to ghost each other. Wouldn’t it be better if we tried to connect more?

Yes, it’s classic advice. Go meet people where they are. And that’s scriptural-like. Definitely, make sure to interact with the kids. One little kid came up and asked me to open a bag of bubbles, and I just felt that right connection.

And then I have to say that at a soccer tournament this morning, at a local school, there were thousands of kids and parents and grandparents who rotated through the fields. I helped sell soft pretzels as a fundraiser, and I was simply shocked at the volume of people and the volume of cars.

We sold a hundred soft pretzels in just two hours. I think you really have to remember that each kid might have up to 4 adults. If we follow the kids, we will find the people. Go meet the where they are.

I don’t have anything big in philosophical to say except Jesus liked to see the kids too… and I bet Jesus Himself was the cutest little boy.

Ok have a good evening and keep being the hands and feet of Jesus, and His travel companion too.

Amen

Luke 18:15,-17

People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
