I am glad it’s Friday, I have been working my plans for the weekend with renewed energy. And I am planning on traveling up home next week so that helped me buckle down to home stuff this week. I like making my plans and truly keeping busy with purpose because this keeps me motivated and keeps me in a form of schedule and without that I get lost. And planning relaxing time is a great venture too – planning that time includes bringing books or puzzles, writing or who knows…
It is Friday, and you wouldn’t think without working 9-5 M-F, that Friday wouldn’t feel like Friday, but it still does… and it is 85 plus summer feeling… and I have come out to my favorite pondering porch of this season, with laptop, book, and phone for writing, at a local mansion/park on the water. The trees sounding in the breeze surely does please!!! It is like a private park, so nice…
It is OK to pause in a plan to ponder.
I decompressed my day yesterday with movie clips of “Evan Almighty” – so funny and so meaningful too. Fictitious yes, but thought provoking yes. Evan (Steve Carrell) is a newly-elected congressman who THINKS he is going to do things he values, but instead, God (portrayed in the flesh by Morgan Freeman) wants Evan and his family to build an ark. It is not Evan’s plan at all, but God essentially backs him into a corner, and gives him all the tools, animals to help, and a book called “Building Arks for Dummies”. God even shows up to motivate Evan’s wife (frustrated with Evan’s craziness) to go back to her husband as they are a fabulous family unit. It is a good movie even if totally goofy in premise and not necessarily scripturally sound, like Noah doesn’t get to be Moses too (I won’t spoil the scene for you). Anyway, there IS a great message here, which is that God’s plans are well above our plans.
We think ahh, our plans… but whose plans? Just we are to pray that our plans align along with God’s plans not vice versa.
I don’t know the little plans for me, but I understand there’s a BIG ultimate plan, long term. We are but pondering points of time, and we best keep working our piece of God’s pie…
In the movie, the humor abounded, but sometimes we are in tough spots picking God’s Will over our own. Are there many good choices? Yes, like picking ice cream flavors, all good. In life, we have a big question of following God’s lead. It is easier to know His Path for us if we check in often.
Unlike the movie where the actor says ‘do random acts of kindness’, we know. God has us doing deliberate acts of LOVE.
Pondering is a place we pause. God’s reasoning in our lives is s cause

A Song of Ascents.
Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the Lord our God, Until He has mercy on us.
