Blooming Well! Psalm 92

Standard

t is seriously fall – maybe an indian summer is what we called this as a kid – mid 70’s day – sunny – nice breeze…

The sunshine feels good. I found this morning that things are blooming and growing here – still in this fall weather. My chrysanthemum recovered a little and there are a dozen flowers for a last ditch effort to bloom. My forsythia has a few blooms out of season. And the ever-growing strawberry plant is still cranking out fruit – just 2 today but enough to taste the sweetness. Strawberries thrive while tomato production took a nose dive. At least everything is still alive. This sounds like a devotion – to keep blooming even in late stages of our seasons.

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” from Psalm 92

Me too – us too – trying to thrive in this season of life – if you are reading this email blog then you are still alive! GOOD! And we are to sing praises to the Lord for He has us here today – for His purposes.

And like the colors of fall, the anthocyanins and carotenoids now showing their reds and purples, oranges and yellows, we need to show ourselves to be in this season – be a colorful unique bearing of His fruit. If our leaves and fruits are colorful and vibrant in this season – then we too can show our colorful sides – even if we are vintage – sure – or late bloomers – sure – remember we are not in our winter of a season yet. We could keep looking around the corner to colder weather and colder lives but right today we have a moment to be warm and to thrive.

To thrive is a stage of being alive and appreciating it.

Let’s Keep Going!

Amen

Psalm 92 NKJV

Praise to the Lord for His Love and Faithfulness – Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,

On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound. For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. A senseless man does not know, Nor does a fool understand this. When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever.

But You, Lord, are on high forevermore. For behold, Your enemies, O Lord, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me.

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
