Bluebirds for the Word

Placing flowers on my Dad’s grave for what would have been my Dad’s birthday, I enjoyed watching the birds and hearing God’s comfort. We remembered many blessings of my Dad. Here’s my devotion of remembrance: reprinted and condensed from last summer:

Bluebirds for the Word

It is said that miracles serve to bring us back to the Word.

While walking in the cemetery this morning, supporting my mom in placing flowers on my Dad’s grave for what would have been his birthday, I couldn’t help but hear the birds singing loudly. The Holy Spirit reminds us that God is active in our lives, the Holy Spirit “IS” MOVING in our midst…

This reminded me of the BLESSINGS, after my Dad’s passing last summer, of spending time with family, in LOVE’S outpouring of support. Two days after he passed, we took a respite visit to the Farmers Market. The blue flowers caught my eye, I had 4 bucks left. SOLD. Carried it back to the car then I quickly looked at the tag and saw the name was BLUE BIRD. Haha Lord!!! The name of my Dad’s favorite bird: BLUEBIRD.

I don’t have to tell you all my many God-sightings (God winks) to convince you that God is paying attention, I know that you also have seen these Holy Spirit movements. One could wonder what is simply serendipity coincidence, but I knew at that very moment, this WAS the Spirit saying that He Himself IS taking care of my Dad. And Jesus taught us that if our Father takes care of the birds, how much more He takes care of us.

Bluebirds are special and so was my Dad, this miracle points me back to the Word because if bluebirds require special houses, high off the ground, how much more does the Lord love us and prepare a room for each of us in His House, His Kingdom.

We pray in Jesus’s name, He sends the Holy Spirit. I prayed for His Spirit to help carry my father. God gave me Hope. I know not just because a little birdie told me, but because Jesus did.

Amen

1 Corinthians 2:7, 10-12:  …we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery…. as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
