I loved the scriptural soap container in my cousin’s bathroom: “This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be GLAD in it.” PS118:24. The scripture reminded me to stop and cleanse my thoughts and not just my hands – and cleansing thoughts becomes the opportunity to praise – to say BE GLAD. The devotion from Bob of the Daily Dose also was on my mind as I was looking at the soap – his devotion was to PURIFY… Asking: “are you daily doing the work needed to keep your heart purified and guard it from being contaminated?” 2 Corinthians 7:1 “Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out reverence for God.”
And one of my big mental purifications (again) is Jeremiah 29:11 – which was written on my cousin’s shower curtain: “God’s plans are for you to prosper, to provide you a hope and a future.” And so yet again my fear that freezes me for a second is washed away – just keep trusting and just keep knowing He has this – and just keep moving forward. It is sinful to stew in spewing stuff… Keep moving forward… REJOICE… BE GLAD…
REJOICE in today and in forever that the Lord washes us both inside and out – and covers us with not just the fluffiest of towels but His forgiveness in His overlay to our sins. God cleans up our acts – so it is best we do so too… We can scrub and sing praises, trim and praise the pruning, believe and dispel unbelief. It takes a “daily detoxing” to cleanse our thoughts and our actions – and let the Lord lather up our lasting lives.
AMEN
(and oh the wonderful peaceful morning I had sitting on the porch in pursuing peace – hearing the rustling leaves and feeling the breeze…)
