“Give ear to my words, O Lord…”
Oh I miss my praise band singing days – but I can not go backwards and we simply have to appreciate the times when they were – and look for new times now – in the present… Things have changed for all of us in our lives – and the ONLY constant is GOD – He is Unchanging – Faithful – and Dear. God Listens…
Psalm 5 KJV – the first three lines is the same version as the song I would sing in praise band. “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”
King David – before and after he was king – was looking to connect with God – and we must remember and believe that God is ALWAYS connecting with us – we must simply just realize. God does want to hear our voices call to Him – God does want us to draw close. David makes a distinction between the wise adn the foolish as those who call out to God and those who don’t, God does not take any pleasure in His punishment to the wicked – scripture says this over and over – that God is pained by it. God even takes a breather in Heaven when the promised punishments of the Book of Revelation are rolled out – God is slow to anger and so He must suffer pain while waiting for the lost to figure out they WANT to be found.
As for me – I WANT to be found by Him every day and every minute. The mornings are easier to sit here in peace and I am outside right now listening to the summer sounds – it is the cool of the morning – and as Heavenly or Eden-like as I have in these days… God is great to convene with in the morning = “give ears to my words o Lord” – “O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”
David continues and alternates verses about the wicked and those who trust God and look to Him – and Give God His Due Respect – be in fear as in be in amazement – and worship God – and also make the path in front of us straight so we know which way to go… But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
David knows that the wicked rebel and turn away – but for himself – for ourselves who trust God – REJOICE – TRUST – BE PROTECTED… “let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
We ask the Lord to GIVE EAR – but honestly God has given us everything we need – especially the knowledge and the desire to know Him MORE…
AMEN AMEN AMEN

Psalm 5 – KJV
Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
