All Souls Day after Halloween is remembering those who have passed. So how are they remembered? By their LOVE and our LOVE for them. By the LOVE in them, from them, not stifled or lost.
Halloween night, I love because I love to see the love of families together. I decorated real quick with lights because I wanted the families to know they were welcome at my house. (Too cold for our neighborhood firepit collection of friends, brrr, happy to be in the house). Yay, we had almost 25 kids, seemingly either aged 3 or 13… awesome… so excited… and my teenager went to walk too, I hugged him when he left, he is so grown up.
I love Halloween but I have seriously grown distant from the blood and gruel, and evil hauntings on Halloween. I’m good with spiders and webs, but I’m not going to use death decorations. No. (This was clear path ahead for the sake of a friend’s little son ever since he was lost a few years back, oh the horror of that day, that week, that month, no way. No Way…. Death be banished. Life be lived.)
So I LOVE the fall fun of the season, the joy of the children, the LIFE, the LIGHTS, the comradery, the costume fun, the walking thru the neighborhood, YES the LOVE. I’m all about the LOVE. The children do indeed LIGHT up the faces of the world, especially the people whom they visit. It’s a blessing to be visited!!! The teenagers give hope too, I gave them everything teenagery I could find: candy, poptarts, water bottles.
1st John 2:15-27 writes all about knowing where to place your focus. Don’t love anything of the world – and beware of those denying Jesus. I appreciate how John in his letters speaks encouragement: “you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it.” WE DO KNOW IT.
It’s good to be the sharer of LOVE in a conversation, be the truth keeper and seeker and speaker, be quiet to listen spiritually, not the spouting about worldly mirings… to remain in Him.
Remain in Him. That’s sage advice and scripture soothing. No matter how tough or easy life is, remain in Him.
At the pumpkin patch, I like the name of this flat variety of squash pumpkin “Zombie Bliss” – a flesh not sweet but still good for savory flavors. That’s like our walk with Christ with knowing our bliss of everlasting life, all while knowing that we are in a world of worldly attractions that may seem sweet to some but are trappings not truth. Beware the fake bliss of blindness. We are to Remain in Him, be more true to the Truth. Let us NOT walk like a dead ghoul zombie but walk with life in resurrection-loving born-again bliss. Sprinkle real light, shine light, and be a savory-savoring Savior-seeped soul.
Humbling isn’t it? to know our walking with the Lord doesn’t mean we have to catch up with Him, like the stragglers in a trick or treating bunch tripping over their costumes, we don’t have to run but walk, even wait AND SIMPLY LIFT OUR EYES TO HIS. And as He knows where we are stuck in worldly costume snags, and how we are HUMAN with too many human trappings, so He waits for us. HE WAITS FOR US to notice Him. And runs to catch us. He never lets us go.
Blessed in Bliss,
Keep Walking in truth.
Be the Light and
Anti the Anti-Love.
Remain in Him.
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
Warnings Against Denying the Son
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
24 As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life.
26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
