Let there be LIGHT and Everything Else, 07AUG – #1216

Let there be REST!

My time here on a blessed 4-day weekend for my college 30th reunion has been filled with both activities and time to sit. What a luxury to rest. You have no idea how novel it is to sit and rest, not sit and drive, but sit and rest.

In so many ways, our lives and lifestyles require us to take some time away from our normal hustle and bustle. He, our Lord, provided me this opportunity to be busy and to be at rest. Yes He did!  I am blessed. Some blessings I worked for, much I didn’t. With all things in life, it’s how we look at them which determines our attitude. When we ask to shed light on situations, we are likely looking for silver linings. We want to be encouraged. When we say “Let there be LIGHT”, we are asking for light to understand the situation better, light in the darkness. Sometimes we have no idea what or how a trial fits into how He is blessing us. It is fitting that He, the Lord, is our LIGHT in everything.

I am writing from inside the bell tower. I did not know it was going to rain. It IS a good venue to feel blessed even in a storm. The music is sure amazing. Strong clangs of the bells rung in the right order give music that carries thru this valley. Coordinating all notes, it becomes beautiful music. Likewise, He giving and coordinating knowledge and direction for us, is setting His plans and commands in the right order. His Light, His EVERYTHING is what we should take to heart. We should reflect Him.

The Lord speaking to Moses, which when recorded continues to live today as the book of Leviticus, gave Moses’s people knowledge and direction. The Lord gave them provisions. These great reminders and teachings fit Moses’s time and fit today’s people too. Examples of these teachings are: Put in work to yield a harvest. Take time to appreciate all the Lord has blessed you with. Rest assured that He provides and will provide. Do what He asks. Harvest when and what He says is appropriate. Let Him direct your resources. Save enough but not too much. Share. Thank Him. Be.

I appreciate that even in down times, our fields are resting on purpose. We can follow the light and see just a fraction of everything He provides. He blesses us when we work and when we don’t do anything to deserve the blessings.

He wants us to look to Him, rely upon Him. We have an opportunity EVERY day and in EVERYTHING to ask the Lord to shine the LIGHT.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Amen Amen

Just before the rainstorm, I recorded AMAZING GRACE on video. Grace is the Lord’s gift even though we don’t deserve it. But wow the Lord is desiring to give it to us.

Leviticus 25:1-7, 18-22

The Lord said to Moses at Mount Sinai, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you, the land itself must observe a sabbath to the Lord. For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops. But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards. Do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. The land is to have a year of rest. Whatever the land yields during the sabbath year will be food for you—for yourself, your male and female servants, and the hired worker and temporary resident who live among you, as well as for your livestock and the wild animals in your land. Whatever the land produces may be eaten.

18 “‘Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety. You may ask, “What will we eat in the seventh year if we do not plant or harvest our crops?” I will send you such a blessing in the sixth year that the land will yield enough for three years. While you plant during the eighth year, you will eat from the old crop and will continue to eat from it until the harvest of the ninth year comes in.
