There are certain songs that stick with you – this is one: Goodness of God, 2019. I remember the first time I listened to it in the car during some tough days of my Dad being in the hospital (pre-covid, stroke scares a couple years ago). On the visit I walked in and my Dad called me by my name after a bad stroke-like non-responsive stretch. Wow – he knew me and could say my name. Later we connected these incidents to infections that mimic stroke like behavior. Wow what joy in even a little normalcy. And when my Dad improved, and got out of the hospital, I continued to sing this song. I actually sang it even with MORE gusto – and this really IS a GUSTO-filled powerful song to sing in the car.
If we remember life, we know there are ups and downs, knowns and unknowns, good days and bad days – and yet one constant: the Goodness of God.
UNCHANGING GOODNESS
UNCHANGING GOD
Amen

Goodness of God, Bethel Music
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
…
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
…
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In the darkest night
You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a Father
I’ve known You as a Friend
…
And I have lived in the goodness of God (yeah)
And all my life You have been faithful (oh)
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God (yeah)
…
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
…
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me (oh-oh)
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
…
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It keeps running after me
…
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
