Lifting my Sails to Praise, 21Jan – #342

Lifting my Sails to Praise, 21Jan

It’s one of those things, I NEVER EVER imagined… from me being bold once to ask to sing one praise song privately, that I would land here, singing praises WITH the band for three Sundays so far as a substitute (and it’s so much spirit fun-filling in our Thursday practices too)… I guess be careful what you ask for, because God is an opportunist!!!

The scripture this week is sweet… It’s true, the HOLY SPIRIT IS the reason for us raising our praises, just like we can NOT take credit for any of our own skills and blessings, we can NOT even take credit for praising… because it’s the Holy Spirit within us that sends those messages out of our mouths. “and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.” 1Corinthians12

Jesus had to come but just as importantly Jesus had to leave His physical body behind so that the HOLY SPIRIT could enter our bodies… God gave me a voice but it’s up to my FREE WILL to decide to use it or NOT… and it’s up to me to learn when to chime in, how loud to sing, and most importantly how to blend in with the group, AND when to be silent… Pray I don’t mess that up, and I learn and listen to the cues…

In ALL ways God intends HIS children to live in HIS harmony… I pray to be “a Spirit of all trades”… Letting Jesus the Lord lead me where-ever the wind blows…

So HAPPY to follow the universe’s Big Band director!!! Lifting my sails for the HOLY SPIRIT directives. Waiting for the direction from God himself.

Gladly I praise: “One King held the frankincense, one king held the muir, one king held the purest gold – ONE KING held the HOPE of the world”

1 Corinthians 12 (NIV)  Concerning Spiritual Gifts

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

John 14

10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
