Work in Progress, 25APR – #476

Standard

476

I thank the Lord for giving me the peace of early mornings once again – I would have never written by choice, but know I wouldn’t have it any other way – even now I only write when the spirit pushes me… I plan to edit and post many when I am home after surgery for a couple weeks… I plan to sleep much too when I am recovery from surgery – and then I will really be a “work in progress” of regaining mobility and strength…

If writing from tasting scriptures is due to my soul wanting to eat healthy and wanting to grow and blossom – then it’s surely because my soul is a “work in progress”…

Work in Progress, 25APR

I love YouTube – God uses it a lot on me… “You will begin again – take comfort from me – it will take time…” – that was the new song clip a few weeks back but it popped up again this morning EXACTLY when I started piecing together a piece called “work in progress” and wow, the title states the same “work in progress”, as it’s a clip of the artists practicing – the song lyric fits the scriptures that fell into my sight this morning as well – about us being renewed in Christ and it also all fits with a construction sign in a dilapidated window that I felt compelled to take a photo of – “Work in Progress” – yeah the Lord lit the light bulb in my head that morning  but I said “wait wait Lord” – because I was racing to get home to get to NYC with my daughter so I promised the Lord that I would come back to write this piece – and so now with convergent scriptures, song, spirit guidance all together, I am forced to get this writing out…

And the scriptures match not JUST the sign in the window but our pastor’s sermon from a couple days ago – about the Lord calling NOT the perfect people, but the imperfect… Then the Lord qualifies the people whom He calls… Essentially we are all works in progress… The Lord equips those called to share the good news because the Lord loves us, reminding us that Jesus came to heal us, that the Holy Spirit is responsible to move us… One more convergent event for this thought – it is a “new to me” song that we are leaning in band: ” I will boast in the Lord”…. That scripture lyric is ALSO in today’s scriptures too – cool Lord, cool….

And we are all works in progress – we are developing and maturing in Christ…

Apostle Paul reminds us:

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel (Colossians 1)”

We are God’s children – we are His “works in progress” – we are not yet complete but we have the best carpenter working on us – and that is Jesus… We are gently being worked upon from the inside out – like a dilapidated building being renovated with the best intentions, it still takes time…

There is a sparked interest for a contractor to improve a dilapidated building – and we know they decided to save it rather than tear it down and start over…   Surely we are like that building too, are  piquing the interest of our  creator  who sent Jesus  to post a shining work-in-progress sign in us -yes, the Lord wants Christ shining thru you – except He’s requesting you help him wash the window of your soiled soul… clear the way for the LIGHT to shine out… Then keep working… All healing comes from the Lord.

Boast NOT in your progress or life achievements – but always boast in the Lord, as He’s the one enabling you to share the gifts that He bestowed on you… It’s good to freely admit that you are under His contract to improve… Not for your own boasting but as an example of the Lord making something out of nothing – from dust you came and dust you shall return… And does light shines brightly in those who realize that God wants them?… Yes God wants you…. ALL of you…

“28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (Corinthians)”

Apostle Paul asked God to fill the people with “the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1)

Paul reminds us all that we are changed people, we are pariahs no more, and we are works in progress to be presented “holy and without blemish” to God – the Lord is asking us to allow Jesus to help us stay recycled reconciled and redeemed…

“21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of  your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.”

Thank you Lord for working on us… Thank you Lord for noticing the beauty within us which You created and then You reclaimed… We thank You for bringing us back to You… Please keep working on us, we love you Lord… And we know You love us.

Amen

Colossians 1 (NIV)

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

To God’s holy people in Colossae, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace. You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you  to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Supremacy of the Son of God

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of  your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

1 Corinthians 1 NIV

Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
