Sing it with me! To the tune of “It’s a Small World”:
Da da da da da dada da da da….
It’s a short world after all, it’s a short world after all, it’s a short world after all, it’s a SHORT SHORT WORLD!
Days seem long but years seem SHORT to us, don’t they. I can’t even imagine how God sees time! I know scriptures say that a day is like a 1000 years and a 1000 years is like a day, and I do believe that God can spin the world in any way He wants, but I can’t wrap my head around it all!!! I also know that many people (especially now in covid times and in this election season) are trying to tease out and identify the Book of Revelation events to now and see what matches what. But don’t. Simply don’t. For God did not create Earth as a “paint by number” canvas for us to guess. He just wants us to be. God did not hide Waldo in every riot or in every plague. Every earthquake is not the game “Perfection” running out of time. God surely even has lots of good things on His plate for us in the near future, but we are often distracted by the smudge marks of the world seemingly gone mad. Remember God is in control. Remember sometimes the Lord calms the storm and sometimes He calms the child.
I’m pretty sure it’s a short world and I know that Jesus is coming sooner than later, especially because the scriptures constantly tell us that we should be ready. (Book of James) Everyday draws closer to the end times, therefore prepare your heart! But don’t shuffle the Book of Revelation events like cards or cut and paste them in any which way, because that was not what John wrote down. And worrying about it would be akin to riding those fabulous Disney rides distracted while trying to figure out how all those animatronic moves happen behind the scenes, rather than simply enjoying the ride. You would not get your money worth out of that ride. You might even fall out of your seat leaning over the edge of speculation. It would also be like talking through the whole ride and missing the enjoyment of the moment (and probably annoying all the people in the movable cars next to you). You would miss the whole thing because you were distracted by your matching game of revelation vs rumination… Don’t.
Don’t – It’s a short world after all – don’t waste your time. God put you on this ride, and He IS the Operator and gave you the free ticket. So, if He was going to put you behind the scenes instead, He would have told you by now and pulled you off the ride!
So don’t fret – don’t over react to the world – participate but don’t anticipate. Glide above the fray in your Spirit movable way and don’t unbuckle your seat belt until the ride comes to a complete stop.
Share all the love you can, it’s a short world after all. Soak in the grace not the grief, it’s a short world after all. Wait your turn and don’t bump the line, God’s timing is right and fine. It’s a short short world!
Amen

Revelation 1 prologue:
The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
