Humility Over Pride, 03JUN – #1171

Standard

I appreciated reading a devotion and scriptures which reminded me: humility over pride.

And these scriptures that were quoted about humility are the best reminder that we need to pick up crosses each day which means to drop the worldly stuff we carry as a burden in our lives. Pride itself can be a burden because we may miss the leading hand of the Lord by holding up our own agendas.

In discussions about work, being a leader, and living each day as it comes, we all need humility. In raising our children, we need Jesus. Our pride in proud moments should be less than our grateful humbleness for Jesus carrying us thru one more day in grace with guidance. At the end of the day we should ask: ‘what did I trust the Lord for today?’ For Jesus did say don’t worry about tomorrow until tomorrow, just focus on today. That’s also why Jesus said that He will take our burdens. We are to lead our family and our folks who have been looking for leadership, if God places you in leadership, it’s because He trusts you to listen to Him. “The one who leads must follow”.

Our years are short on this earth and those who come after us will likely live longer than us – including our children. How we can not see that much further into their lives must be a driving factor for us to trust God to know what they need in those years where we won’t be around to remind them. God knows to the end, we don’t know the day of the end and we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Therefore we MUST trust in God each day to lead us to focus on what will bring His people out of their darkness into His light.

If I am going to trust any decision about my work, my life, and especially my children – I am going to trust God to bring it all together. The more we listen and obey, the more He can use us. Perhaps that is the best lesson for our children, teach them to listen to the Lord too.

One day at a time, sweet Jesus.

Thanks and Amen.
