I made it to the Promised Land – not wandering but by MARCHING across the READING of the book of Deuteronomy into the book of Joshua in my scripture journey. Moses has now died and Joshua appointed to lead God’s chosen people, the Israelites, into the Promised Land. I see increasingly now that the Bible scriptures are all about LEADING and FOLLOWING, all about WALKING WITH GOD, all about getting to a place to receive His Promise which is our Way of landing back with Him. It IS a journey, every day. I knew there were interesting stories in the Bible in the Old Testament, I just didn’t know that the stories constantly WEAVED the Word Jesus in so many ways – telling of Him – and for the strengthening of us – for leading us – for teaching us – for encouraging us.
BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. God tells Joshua this 3 times on page one.
Why should Joshua (and we) be leaders to lead others thru the wilderness of our wandering? Because we are examples. Our steps will “lead these people”. Our actions may look like folly to some but look followable to others. God’s people are to know to not take our own steps but theirs. Not rely on human hunches but heavenly help.
Our Home, Heavenly Home, is a life journey away, so praying and bringing Heaven onto Earth is a daily challenge to live in prayer and on a path: “Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven…”
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS… …BE STRONG AND VERY COURAGEOUS… …BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
How long will we walk? Until Jesus comes again.
How long will we lead? Until Jesus comes again.
How long will we follow? FOREVER.
We drop our self-agenda off each morning and pick up His Path. One day at a time. One step at a time.
Forever be STRONG AND COURAGEOUS, starting today.
Joshua Installed as Leader Ch1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
“BE STRONG AND VERY COURAGEOUS. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
