I can do a lot of philosophizing about how fast life goes just by looking/feeling at the early summer we are having. We went from snow to full bloom flowers, grass that grows too fast, hot temps and cool nights, mosquitoes before lightning bugs. Summer will also go faster than it got here. Life is too short, too fast, too temporary. Maybe that’s the point. We will appreciate Forever MORE as we realize how precious and fleeting EVERY moment is now.
Forever extends to FOREVER, I cannot wrap my head around that. Wouldn’t that be nice if strawberry season did too? I lost most of my strawberries from last year when I had quarts and quarts. Sure I could buy them, but how delicious in your own patch. I love playing in the garden, however now it’s mostly weeds to deal with first. Life is too short, you can’t get to all the weeds. But FOREVER will already be gone of weeds and worries. Forever there WILL be time to see, feel, love, live.
I stopped mowing the grass to stand where I used to push the kids on their swingset, such a short forever ago. Reminising. That’s key to what “temporary travellers on this earth” is in a nutshell, before you blink that phase of life is gone. No one plays in this yard anymore, perfectly long for sports, which is one of the direct reasons I bought this house in this picture postcard neighborhood, known to be good for raising kids. No balls get tossed into the garden, requiring careful stepping to extract them. Perhaps, maybe eventually (I’m NOT rushing things) other kids will enjoy this yard, but for now, it rests…
I DID appreciate the resting (after the weeding and mowing). You are my God, and I will praise you. The memories of moments last. Then in FOREVER? The actual moments will last.
Forever… I bet there are strawberries galore, and useful plants that are never weeds. I bet even the good plants we consider weeds, like pokeweed, will be considered good. God planned GOOD. We, as God’s children, He calls VERY GOOD. He wants to be with us.
I bet the Lord God is looking forward to His kids playing in His Garden once again. He’s looking for those moments to walk with us. Forever.
I know that He made FOREVER for Him to spend WITH us. What’s in FOREVER? HIS LIGHT, HIS LOVE. HIM, HIM loving us. Let us rejoice and be glad.
“Forever and a Day”, let’s start now by letting that “Day” be TODAY, let’s spend it with Him.
His love endures forever.
Amen
Psalm 118
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say: “His love endures forever.”
When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.
The Lord is my strength and my defense: he has become my salvation.
Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
Open for me the gates of the righteous; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation.
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.
Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.
The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
