It’s amazing to me that I made some decent progress over the summer when I physically measured the thickness of the Bible’s Old Testament that I have methodically read. One could say the “Old ” Testament is the “Foretold” Testament for-telling Jesus’s arrival. The Way thru the Bible is seeing the reinforcement of His Way. The Way is the Way of Wisdom. Jesus is the Way.
I never dreaded the inches but felt overwhelmed in my basic not knowing what was in it! I knew I needed/need to make a journey by myself first in wandering and wondering, no cliffnotes just cliffhangers. I wondered how dry the stories might be and how would I ever grasp so much history? Well I made progress, day by day, and I’ve certainly learned along the Way. And as for the dryness? I realize by adding Living Water to the stories, adding not-so-private-detective looks for prophecies of Jesus, I got HYDRATED in MY HEARING.
So my recent big revelation is this part is that there is a doubled back storyline, a huge section of reinforcement to the same stories! OH!!! Chronicles is retelling the stories again of Saul, David, etc… OH! I HEARD THIS BEFORE!!! These MUST be important. I love reinforcement and a really cool set of stories too! Once again of how people loyally followed David and how he took care of the Ark of the Covenant with memory items of God’s Faithfulness. And why? Jesus shows us that Way back to Him.
The Way thru the Bible is the reinforcement of His Way. And He reinforces and reinforces.
The Way, Jesus is the Way and part of His paving project Way, for His physical entry into our day, was to raise up His House of David. Even though the road wasn’t wide for David, it was SURE, a firm-foundation like for us. And ever-fallible David still loved the Lord seriously and solidly, always looking for solutions.
Jesus had to build the house on earth for Him to be born in. He wrote His Story, just as He writes ours. He has us in HIS House.
The Chronicles by the Chronicler are the details of loyalty. God LOVES loyalty in us too, believing, because He is LOVE and LOYAL.
The Way of the Lord is the Way of Wisdom.
Follow Jesus on your Way to His House.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you… Proverbs 9:10-12
For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God. And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord.
The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.
Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.
And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred;
And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty and two captains.
And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.
And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers.
And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.
And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.
Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.
And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.
And of the Danites expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.
And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.
And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.
All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.
Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: FOR THERE WAS JOY IN ISRAEL.
