Treasures!!! Precious Treasures!!!

This is the first time in a few years that the Bohemian Czech Crown Jewels were put on display…  They are held hidden under 7 pairs of locks and keys distributed to various members of the government and in the church… The re-creations (which I have seen) are beautiful and so these original pieces on video appear exquisite… one of these years I would love seeing the real ones, but the trip itself was even more priceless to me. The amazing St Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle is just one of the sights to be seen…

Treasure any time you can take a trip!  I sure do… The people who saw the jewels had to wait outside in the cold for a couple house. This year is special for new presidential elections. This is also the 30th anniversary of the separation of Czech from Slovakia. And it was 33 years ago when the velvet revolution got Czech people away from the iron curtain, I bet they waited a LONG time under that regime, behind the curtain. I have to wonder how much prayers were prayed in waiting it out… In a country of Europe, a continent of people losing their faith, many did not. Thank God.

King Charles of Bohemia, 1300’s, was also a man of faith and the Holy Roman Emperor, he had these jewels put together. There is faith in worldly items and then there is faith in God. If riches are as precious on earth, then heaven treasures are priceless! Priceless Heaven – our ticket bought by Jesus. Charles knew he had earthly jewels! And the gold overlays in his castles are unbelievably beautiful. Charles (Karl) also believed that He had hundreds of relics from Jesus’s time, including breast milk from Mary and especially a thorn from the crown Jesus wore. He had that thorn placed inside the cross in the jewels, they have no reason to believe that it is not still there. Charles used earthy riches in decorative art to honor God.

My scriptures this day are from another king, King David, who at times was under much distress and hiding from duress… Psalms 22, 23, 24, 25… What best JEWEL did David find in his heart? THE LOVE OF GOD… David BELIEVED in God’s rescue and he saw it! We should believe too.

There is nothing more precious than what God holds precious: His Love for us. David knew the Precious Love of God in rescue and in respite. (included below is His famous Psalm 23 – such a comfort to know God’s strength)…  Even when David felt so distant from God, he knew God was looking for him. I pray we do too…

I pray we know we are PRECIOUS in God’s Hands. WE ARE HIS PRECIOUS TREASURES!

And He is ours.

Amen

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

Scriptures

Psalm 22:14-23

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me. My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.

But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you. You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!

Psalm 23 – a psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 24 – of David. A psalm.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory?  The Lord Almighty – he is the King of glory.

Psalm 25: 1-7 – of David.

In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those  who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.
