LIGHT Invades Dark, 07Jan
Haven’t written a devotion in a while, have been focusing on editing and posting the old ones on my blog… But this is new/old because even though each of my writings have come from new thoughts in me of convergent experiences, truly all our LIGHT revelations are all from old LIGHT, a old SPIRIT from before time began… external to time… As God is SPIRIT, He is the creator of all, including time… And He’s a SPIRIT who still wants to illuminate our own darknesses in a new way… it is a LIGHT to catch our attention in a fresh way.
It’s not a surprise that there is a convergence of people’s experiences from finding LIGHT in the darkness – it is not a surprise because it’s the LIGHT that finds them… The bible begins with LIGHT overtaking the darkness… At the appointed time it was and is the LIGHT of Jesus that overcame darkness for all time, Light is trying to seep into every compartmentalized hidden space in the world, Light begins by entering the deepest soul space in us – and it is LIGHT that needs to be pour back out of us into the world.
” Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” John 12
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1
As I read these bible verses… I could speak of many areas of light invading darkness in my personal life, but I like how the scriptures speak individually to each person… each person has new LIGHT invading old darkness… Each soul illumination is a precious moment… Each LIGHT shared brings us back closer to wholeness…
Compartmentalize… often we want to separate our darkness from our happy places… If we are able to keep everything in life easy and LIGHT in life, we can move thru our days… But there’s dark…, there are downtimes, there is grief from loss, sadness, pain, loneliness, and confusion… There are cluttered veils darkening the LIGHT. But all this covering and masking doesn’t change the LIGHT, it CAN’T ever change the LIGHT…
And we CAN’T stay in the dark forever, because LIGHT invades dark… “The LIGHT shines in the darkness, and the darkness has NOT overcome it.” John 1:5
We have seen many who are prisoners in pain, we encourage but cannot heal them, we distract but cannot fix their pain, but we fight dark with sharing of a GIFT… We add LIGHT that’s gifted to us… And we too have to remember to keep walking towards the LIGHT when we are stumbling in our own darkness…
Yes, we ourselves fall into dark places, but we are chosen to SEE… We are chosen to remember to keep the LIGHT burning for others. We were called out of darkness for a purpose that is not even ours to claim… We have no choice – when a fire is lit in our souls we have to feed the fire with openness, it’s not ours to snuff out…
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into HIS wonderful LIGHT.” 1Peter 2:9
“The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27
It’s the truth….The LIGHT of the world cannot be hidden…
“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5
“The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.” Revelation 21
Lord, thank you for the LIGHT and pulling us from our darkest times. May we always follow the LIGHT. May we always desire to SHINE your eternal LIGHT.
“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.” Luke 11
