Curls, 08JAN

I was scrubbing off paint in a late night shower when I thought I would curl my hair – I was thinking of my dear friend who had worn curlers under her outfit at our church’s outside Living Nativity on Christmas eve, so that she would look nice for bell choir… I texted her this morning saying I was thinking of her, and she texted saying she also was simultaneously using hot curlers and was thinking of me, LOL – that’s awesome… God pairs up us crazy sisters… and of course it figures that I ran into her when I snuck into church between services and I still had my curlers in…

I could say it’s vanity to have curls – but on this day it seemed about being happy – the small things that make you happy like having the time to curl your hair… this scripture from Ecclesiastes and thinking about my soul sister makes me happy – and God makes me happy – with dreaming of eternity in our hearts how could we not smile…

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.  I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it…” Ecclesiastes 3:11-14

“This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart.” Ecclesiastes 5:10-20

As David wrote his ponderings in all of Ecclesiastes chapters 1-12, it is a comfort to remember that God is in control –  we are here for such a short time in this world – we should make the best of it – He concluded: No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.”
