The world is loving going electronic but paper has not been outlawed yet. Have you ever written a piece of paper like a grocery list and then taken a picture of it so you can carry it with you on your phone? I have. Have you ever signed up for an actual event on physical paper and took a picture of it with your phone as proof to verify it? I have. Do you still keep a calendar that’s written physically? Even if you have all the electronic calendars in the world, does it comfort you to have a physical piece of paper? I do and it does.
Someone showed a surprised response at my real paper “to-do” list, a “mommy’s minders” printed weekly calendar that I can scribble on. But they admitted that they liked paper too. And my best reason for using the visual paper is that I dump my brain down on it. Record of relief recorded, I can dedicate the extra brain space to something else.
So when I signed up for my covid vaccination, it felt REAL GOOD to see PHYSICAL PAPER, physical people and the personal touch. Touching the paper, I felt a level of trust demonstrated. Not only were people who are not into technology served, but so were those who were/are trapped by technology! Yes, elderly people who don’t have the means to troll the 3AM postings of new vaccination timeslots were served by this paper, AND those just too busy to troll, trapped by the volume of options, also were served. Many times I didn’t troll fast enough and missed out on nearby appointments many times. I eventually got some appointments, and I likely would be OK waiting more, but appointments on this paper system came thru for me 2 weeks sooner. So I signed up myself AND a friend, a friend busier than me, after connecting electronically with her! And I learned of this from a friend too, electronically in conversation. The Holy Spirit DOES leave a paper trail tracing His blessings.
See the pharmacy, a small local one, was overwhelmed by the online response and turned to paper, because it best served their direct customers and in the purpose of making appointments, it was keeping the peace. Relief is experienced in receiving a personal touch effort from your doctor, your pharmacist, your mailman, your family, your boss, your friends and all throughout your life. A PERSONAL TOUCH FROM THE LORD IS TRULY PERSONAL.
Don’t put down paper. Sure, there are endless advantages to a paperless system, I have paperless banking, bills, concert tickets, and you know we all live thru Facebook, instant messaging, emails, and even the buzzer notifications that our table is ready at the popular restaurant. And yet to get our name on the paper for seating YOUR table of 2 or 6 or 3, you trust them to call your name in the right order… And if you were not able to stand waiting for days and days for something, a paper lottery system might help. A raincheck paper will get you a sale price, a warranty paper will rest your worries, and a physical Will and Testimony can become the most important document to your life and to your death, for you AND the ones that you have left behind.
My paper trail includes writing on my hand some important “to-do” lists. Paper envelopes on my desk are stamped confidential and there is trust in not opening them. My home paper piles include books that you might place a bookmark in so that you note to yourself where to begin, even if you don’t read much. My Will and Testimony are paper copies registered too…
And His personal touch is in my registering of God paperwork onto blog pages, my Testimony of His Faithfulness, yet these writings I will see to that they will also be printed and placed. Physical movement of this paper is one thing – but the physical movement of HIS WORD is everything. In my 60 plus chapters of writing, almost all my Bible references are electronically captured, but they are Heavenly sourced since His Word is sacred. And even Heaven has a scroll with seven seals not to be opened up by anyone because ONLY the Lamb, the slain and resurrected Lamb, the WORD of God, Jesus the Christ, Alpha and Omega is worthy of opening the scroll. Jesus IS.
I could tell you that our faith needs no paper, because it is God’s Word written on our hearts that matters. Either way it is how we read the signs, letters, words, numbers, notions of our faith that becomes the personal touch back in touching God’s plan. Touch His Hand and you touch His Plan. Touch His plan and you can reach out to His people. Make time for all people and MAKE TIME FOR GOD.
His personal touch is holding you. Be personal to God, and with God. Be personal in your journey. Reach personally to His people also. He has all our names in His Book of Life, let us reach whom God is readying, reading and rooting for.
Read the Sign of His Times.
Amen.
Paul to the Philippians 2:2-4
Unity Through Humility
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
