I can’t help mentally sing the song: “Love the one you’re with!” thinking about our Covid era. Yes…
Some families can’t see their families now, but they can see their neighbors. Some can’t wait to get home from work to see family and now some can’t wait to get back to work to see work folks. Some really want to be at work to feel normalcy and some want to be at work to make sure they are not forgotten…
Are we forgotten? Not by God. Never is He not thinking of us with love. Are we forgetful? He is always looking for us to remember Him.
Do we love? We are commanded by our Lord to “love the ones we’re with”… AGAPE love… AND love strangers AND love neighbors AND love enemies. “And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” Matthew 5:47
If a widow offers her last coins to the church (Mark 12), surely we can offer our LOVE, which comes in excess to us. God is love, and love keeps giving.
If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:41-42
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7
Can we go the extra mile today?
Can we love the one we’re with?
God does, He is love. And love will prevail.
God’s LOVE loves all.
Amen
